John R. Haverstick, aged 66, passed into the presence of the Lord on Friday, June 29, 2018 after a lengthy illness. John was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Kimberly E. Haverstick and his father, H. L. Haverstick. John's life was an example of the transformative power of a relationship with Jesus Christ. He was an active member of Central Manor Church where he was involved in a number of ways, including serving on the finance ministry team and being a mentor. He also attended Central Manor Camp where he served on the Board of Directors in addition to being the financial secretary. Professionally, he was employed by RR Donnelly for 30+ years. In his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for the American Cancer Society and the United Way. John will long be remembered for his insatiable curiosity about the world, his witty sense of humor, and his ability to make friends wherever he went. He was an avid outdoorsman with interests in hunting, fishing, bird watching, hiking and camping. He was also a long-suffering fan of the Phillies and the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. His greatest joy and passion was found in his role as a husband and father. He is survived by his three children, Matthew R. Haverstick of Lancaster, Heather E. Haverstick of Millersville and Andrew J. Haverstick of Washington Boro. John is also survived by his mother Alice E. Haverstick of Lancaster, a brother Dr. H. L. Haverstick Jr. (Sherry) of Elizabethtown, sisters Cathy I. Frey (Dean) of Lampeter, Eileen E. Cawood (Dan) of Purcellville, Virginia, S. Elaine Eppley (Arthur) of Lancaster, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 6-8PM at Central Manor Church of God, 387 Penn St., Washington Boro, PA and again on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 10-11AM, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM. Interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's memory to Central Manor Camp, PO Box 103, Washington Boro, PA 17582, or the International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Foundation at www.iwmf.com .
