John C. Hambright, 90, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Country Meadows of Lancaster. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles S. and Alma (Ferich) Hambright, and the beloved husband of Joanne A. (Shenk) Hambright, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage at the time of her passing in February, 1996.

A member of the US Army Air Corps, John honorably served his country during WWII. He worked for Armstrong Corp. as a laborer, from where he retired after many years of service. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.

John is survived by his daughter, Sharon L. Rote, of Lancaster, and his son, Gary R. Hambright and his wife Colleen of Strasburg. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Danielle Hamri, Stacy Reed, Gary N. Hambright, Brett Hambright, Gregory Rote, and Gordon Hambright; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Carol A. Phelan.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602, where the family will receive guests from 10 to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Riverview Burial Park.
