John M. Getz, 89, of Lititz, passed away at Luther Acres, on Monday, June 27, 2016. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Rohrer and Emma M. (Miller) Getz. John was the loving husband of Thelma E. (Eckman) Getz, with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage. A 1944 graduate of Mount Joy High School, John worked as a farmer and was a co-owner and manager of McDonald's on Oregon Pike for more than 20 years. He was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, John is also survived by two daughters: Audrey G. Klopp, wife of Larry, of Lititz and Deborah G. Davidson, wife of Kenneth, of Lancaster. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Darrell and John's sister, Evelyn G. Gainer. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Luther Acres, especially the caregivers in Agape Way. A viewing for John will be held from 6-8PM, Friday, July 8, 2016, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Memorial Services will be held at 2PM, on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 Market St., Lititz, PA 17543. A time of gathering will follow the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the building fund of Lititz United Methodist Church at the address above or the Alzheimer's Association, 237 Court St., Reading, PA 19601.
