John Henry, Carpenter, Sr., 64, of Lancaster, PA, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2015 surrounded by his son, daughter-in-law and three sisters. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Sherman D. and Gladys M. (Hammel) Carpenter. John enjoyed his life long work as a painter. He loved spending time outside with family and friends. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 34 of Lancaster. John is survived by a son, John H. Carpenter, Jr., husband of Caitlin, of Lancaster, PA; a grandchild on the way; three sisters: Linda Carpenter of Lancaster, PA, Dolores "Dee" Miller, wife of Jim, of Manheim, PA, and Victoria "Vicki" Leese, wife of Kevin of E. Petersburg, PA; and three brothers: Arthur "Art" Carpenter of Salunga, PA, Michael Carpenter of Downingtown, PA and Dennis "Denny" Carpenter, husband of Dee, of Marietta, PA. Friends will be received from 1-2 PM with an open Memorial Service to follow at 2 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 34, 1388 Arcadia Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.
