John H. Byerly Sr., 83, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Elsie R. Devonshire Byerly. John was the loving husband of the late Judith E. Stoll Byerly who passed in 2019.

He was a proud veteran of the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania where he retired as a Colonel. Earlier in life he enjoyed the outdoors, camping with family, taking trips to Virginia and Colorado, fishing and bus trips. He was an avid collector of eagles, watching game shows and was known for his attentiveness to time and schedules which was gained through his military experience. John had a servants heart and was always giving to organizations whether local or national he found something to spare.

Surviving are two sons, John H. Jr. husband of Christie Byerly, Charles H. husband of Mary Byerly, five grandchildren, Brandon, Mary, Bryant, Joseph, Lindsey, four great grandchildren, and a sister, Marilyn Byerly. Preceding him in death in addition to his wife, Judith, is a son, Brian S. Byerly, and a sister Jean Kleckner.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John's funeral service at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584, on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, beginning promptly at 1: 30 PM with full military honors.
