John R. Brown, 68, of Lancaster passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 8, 2024. Born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI, he was the son of the late Douglas Kirby and Mary Elizabeth (Burke) Brown. He was the loving husband of Cynthia (Mowrer) Brown with whom he shared over 29 years of marriage.

John grew up playing ice hockey and was an avid University of Michigan Ice Hockey and Football fan. John received his bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan. He was a huge history buff and really enjoyed music. John also enjoyed hiking, camping, classic cars, planes and being around his dogs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Sarah A. Brown, Kathryn M. Brown both of Lancaster; two brothers, Kirby Brown husband of Virginia of NM, Peter Brown of WA, one niece and 2 nephews of Peter Brown, father-in-law, Ronald Mowrer of Lancaster, sister in law, Cheryl Ward of Erie and her children, Alec & Audrey Ward.

A Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 9-11AM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway E, Lancaster, PA 17602.
