IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John M.
Bradley
November 1, 2013
John M. Bradley, beloved husband of Mary Kathryn R. Bradley (née Hendrick) and father of John Michael, Maureen Kathryn and Claire Marie passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
He is survived by his wife, three children, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and his sister Mary Margaret (Peg).
John was born on October 23, 1930 in the East Germantown section of Philadelphia to Kathleen and Joseph Bradley, the fifth of six children. He served 22 years in the United States Armed Forces, rising to the rank of Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. His years in the Service saw him stationed in Germany, Japan, and numerous locations within the United States, including in Hawaii on the eve of the Korean Conflict. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1973, John met his future bride in Stone Harbor, New Jersey and settled in Northeast Philadelphia. He joined the founding staff of the Immaculate Mary Nursing Home six months prior to its opening and retired 21 years later after making countless friends among the staff and residents. Having seen three children through college, applauded during dozens of school plays, accompanied all the children to hospitals at least once and cheered for innumerable hours on gymnastic floors, baseball sidelines and track infields, he dedicated much of his retirement to serving his community through volunteer work at an area food cupboard. He leaves behind many people who remember his powerful singing voice, gift of laughter, and his kind and compassionate nature.
We invite you to join us for a celebration of John's life on Tuesday, April 30th. Friends and family are welcome to greet John's family at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and participate in a Mass of Christian Burial following immediately at 12:00 PM. St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church is located at 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17603.
In lieu of flowers, our family requests that a donation be made in John M. Bradley's name to Catholic Charities USA at http ://www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/how-to-help/donate/ .
