Joanne B. Thompson, 79, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012 at LGH. Born in Landisville, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Stauffer and Ellen (Gilgore) Jenkins.

Joanne was a graduate of JP McCaskey High School. She worked for the city of Lancaster for over 14 years in many different positions. She enjoyed cooking for her family. Joanne was of the Lutheran faith.

She is survived by her children: Susan Nauman, of MD, Richard Thompson, of Lancaster, Earl B. Thompson, husband of Andrea, of Ephrata, Michael Thompson, of Lancaster. Also surviving are her siblings, H. Marie Jenkins, John V. Jenkins, both of Lancaster, and Barbara Campbell, of York; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Thompson, a brother, James R. Stauffer and a sister, Nancy Bemesderfer.

A Funeral Service will be at 2PM on Friday, May 18, 2012 from Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday between 1 and 2PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Susquehanna Association for the Blind & Visions Impaired, 244 N.
