Joan Mary Wickenheiser, 77, of Lancaster, PA, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 6, 2015. Born in Lancaster, she was the wife of the late James Wickenheiser and the daughter of the late Miriam Baum. Joan was a graduate of McCaskey High School and was self employed as a child care provider. She will be remembered as a generous, loving, accepting person with a heart of gold. Her family, friends, grand and great grandchildren were her life. She is survived by her son, Douglas, six daughters, Jill Dempsey, companion of Faye Yarber, Jodi , wife of Dennis Bowman, Karen, wife of Mark Wingenroth, Teresa Wickenheiser, wife of Victor Rodriguez, Janeen, wife of Larry Milburn, Jennifer, wife of Shawn Moses, daughter-in-law, Susan Wickenheiser, sister, Janet Diem, all of Lancaster, PA; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Joan will also be remembered by her lifelong friend Joyce Root Becker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, two sons, Craig Wickenheiser and Jeff Dempsey, and a brother, Jack Kauffman. A tribute to her life will be celebrated on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. The interment will be private at Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in her name to the Lafayette Fire Company, 1836 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
