Joan G. Wengert, 85, of Lititz, PA passed away Monday, March 21st 2016 at her residence. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Clifford Wengert of Lititz, PA.
Born in Allentown, PA, she was the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Yost) Gilbert. Joan was a graduate of Lebanon High school and Lebanon Valley College. Joan worked as a Medical Technologist before becoming a mother. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, knitting, 9 hole golfing, reading, playing bridge, cryptograms, watching wildlife, and raising Labrador retrievers in her younger years.
Joan was a member at Highland Presbyterian Church since the 1960's as well as a Deacon, she was a loving wife and doting mother and grandmother. She was also a member of the Lebanon Country Club and the Lititz Women's club.
She is survived by two sons Douglas R. Hartz, husband of Cynthia of Royersford PA., and David G. Hartz, husband of Edielyn of Lititz, PA; Step-sons Richard J. Wengert of Lebanon Pa., Thomas J. Wengert, husband of Cynthia of Olney MD., and Robert D. Wengert of Scottsdale AZ; eight grandchildren, William Hartz, husband of Jamie, Samuel Hartz, Karl Hartz, Justin D. Hartz, Makenna E. Hartz, Benjamin Levi Hartz, Ellen Wengert, Hannah Wengert; one sister Anne Means of Lebanon PA, and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Mattson, and her first husband G. Richard Hartz, D.O.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11:00AM from the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will be held privately in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, N. Lebanon Twp. PA. A viewing will be held from 9:30AM until 11:00AM at the funeral home.
