Jessie D. Turner, 87, of Lancaster, passed away, Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Evergreen Estates. Born in Bessemer, Alabama, Jessie was the son of the late John and Ollie M. (Justice) Turner. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Shelly) Turner, who died in 2000. He then married his beloved wife, Theresa D. (Weiss) Turner, with whom he celebrated 16 years of marriage. Jessie honorably served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge he worked as an electronic technician for RCA. Following his retirement from RCA, he worked for the Lancaster School District, for seven years, as the Chief Custodian at the Martin Luther King Elementary School. Jessie was a member of the First Reformed Church, Lancaster. He was a past member of the Millersville VFW and American Legion, Post 34. He currently belonged to the Elks Lodge #134, Masonic Lodge #43, where he also served as a past Master, the Zembo Shrine, Lancaster County Shrine, the Oriental Band, and the Lancaster Liederkranz. He was also an enthusiastic Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. In addition to his wife, Theresa, Jessie is survived by his son, Michael S. Turner, of Lancaster; step children: James Duvall, husband of Julie, of Lancaster; Stephen Duvall, husband of Patricia, of Yardley; and Jeanne Marie Duvall, of Lancaster; and four grandchildren: Luke, Jake, Katie, and Joseph. The family would like to especially thank all of those who cared for Jessie at Evergreen Estates and Grane Hospice Care. They especially would like to thank Carole Martin who not only cared for Jessie but was also a very loyal and devoted friend. Memorial Services for Jessie will be held at 11AM, on Monday, April 30, 2018, at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 to 11AM. Interment will follow at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Jessie's memory be made to either the Shriners Children's Hospital at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org .
