Jerry Heavner, 44, went home to be with his father, Frank, in Heaven on Wednesday, April 30 th , 2008 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was born in Bellefonte Hospital in Centre County, PA and was the beloved son of Jane L. Heavner of Lititz, and Frank R. Heavner III (deceased.)
Jerry survived brain cancer for 35 years. Despite his disabilities from this, his humor and positive spirit always touched everyone who met him. He was a fan of the Steelers and Pirates his entire life, and an avid baseball card, stamp and coin collector. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for 30 years, and was very devout and vocal in his faith.
Surviving in addition to his mother are 2 brothers, Frank Heavner husband of Nancy, and Fred Heavner husband of Shannon; also several nieces and nephews. He was a very loving son and the greatest brother.
For the last 4 years, he resided at Acadia Brain Injury Rehab Facility of Greenfield Corporate Center, and benefited greatly from their program.
Friends and family are invited to attend Jerry's Memorial Service on Saturday, May 3 rd at 2PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Jerry's memory be made to the Lancaster General Health Care Foundation, Memo: Brain Tumor Community Group, Box 3555 Lancaster, PA 17604 and Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
