Obituary

Jeffrey S. Churchill, 31, of Willow Street died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Lancaster General Hospital

Born in San Diego, CA, Jeff was the son of Wanda L. (Beals) Churchill of Altoona, and the late Dayle L. Churchill.  He was married to Jacqueline M. (Nugent) Churchill in 2005, and celebrated the birth of their daughter, Kaitlin Christine in 2007.

Jeff was a 1994 graduate of Altoona Area High School, where he was a member of the basketball team.  He earned a four year athletic scholarship to St. Francis University to play on their Red Flash Basketball team.  He graduated from St. Francis University in 1999 with Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and secondary education.

Jeff was employed by Penn Manor School District as a special education teacher in the emotional support classroom for five years.  He was the head coach for the Penn Manor boys varsity basketball team. Jeff was named 2005-06 Coach of the Year for section one basketball, and 2006-07 Outstanding Coach of the Year for Penn Manor School District.  He loved spending time with his daughter Kaitlin and wife Jackie, and his family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf, going to the beach, playing basketball, and was an avid Celtics fan, and a guitar hero.

In addition to his wife and mother, Jeff is survived by his daughter, Kaitlin C. Churchill at home, brother, David T. Churchill of Altoona, aunts, Patricia Palazzi, Barbara Civiello, and uncle, Tom Beals, husband of Tina, all of Altoona, father and mother-in-law, Charles J. and Christine Nugent of Lancaster, brother-in-law, Charles J. Nugent, Jr., husband of Kim, and their son CJ, and sisters-in-law, Rachel E., Kelly A., Colleen M., Megan T., Moira K. Anne K. Nugent, and Amy Rohman, wife of Adam.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday, July 31 st at 10 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA with Rev. Msgr. John Jagodzinski officiating.  Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.  Viewings will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 PM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA, 717-872-5041, and again on Thursday morning from 8:30 until 10 AM at St. Mary's.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Jeff's memory may be made to Reynolds Middle School PTO, 605 W.
