Jeannette S. Burger, 96, of Lancaster passed peacefully on Saturday, April 15th at Moravian Manor in Lititz, PA. Jeannette was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for forty-six years and St. Philip the Apostle Church for her remaining fifty years. Born in Lancaster and reared on Cabbage Hill she was the daughter of the late Edwin C. Schulz and Josephine R. (Schmitt) Schulz. Jeannette was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Clement A. Burger, Sr. who passed away on June 24, 1992. Her oldest son, brother Clement A. Burger, C.S.C. also preceded her in death when he passed away on August 24, 2014. Jeannette was a 1938 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and a 1968 graduate of Millersville State College. She enrolled in college in 1964 to pursue a degree in elementary education. Her first teaching position was at Sacred Heart Catholic School on Nevin Street in Lancaster. Later, she became a fourth grade teacher at Pequea Elementary School in the Penn Manor School District. She remained there for twenty-one years until she retired in 1987. Jeannette is survived by four sons: Thomas A. Burger, Sr. husband of Jane L. of Maytown; Gary S. Burger, husband of Robin B. of Willow Street; David J. Burger Sr. husband of Arlene L. of Newmanstown; and Jeffrey L. Burger of Lancaster; six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Edwin Schulz of Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, with her nephew, Rev. Philip G. Burger and Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel con-celebrating. Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the mass at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jeannette's memory may be made to Lancaster Catholic High School, 650 Juliette Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601.
