Jeanne L. Hartung, 80, formerly of 2005 Northbrook Dr., went into God's embrace in the early hours of Sunday morning.
She was the wife of the late Marlowe W. "Bud" Hartung, who passed away in 2001. Born in Northampton, PA, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Paul K. and Ruth L. Miller Kulp Clymer.
She had worked as a secretary for the PA Crop Improvement Assn, as well as Marlowe W. Hartung, Inc.
Jeanne enjoyed her food and loved to entertain, hosting pinochle and bridge parties. She made extravagant holiday meals, painted Easter eggs, and loved putting together Easter baskets for everyone. In years past, she would visit Roots Flea Market, talking to friends and vendors. She had been an antiques dealer and owner of Pandora's Antiques with her family. A quilt and textile enthusiast, she provided Lancaster County's new courthouse annex with a Trip Around The World Quilt.
An accomplished bowler, Jeanne bowled in the Lancaster Bowling League, where she was captain of the "Morning Glorys", from which she received numerous trophies.
She loved to read and watch the Philadelphia 76ers basketball games on television. Also an avid gardener, Jeanne took great pride in her beautiful flower gardens. She loved to travel with her family and enjoyed her mountain home with her husband and family, where she looked forward to her husband's evening catch of the day.
Recently, she became known as the "Sock Lady" for interesting socks, and had been known as the "Hat Lady", with an extensive collection of hats. She was a woman who didn't feel complete going out without her hat and pocketbook.
Jeanne was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she had taught Sunday School. She was a direct descendant of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
She is survived by her four children: Melissa Hartung, married to William Brenner of Lancaster, Keith married to Cathy Hartung of Delaware, Brant E. Hartung of Waterville, PA, and Pamela J. Hartung of Maine; her three grandchildren: Lokshmi, Alisha, and Raevynn; and by her sister, Marilyn R. Quay of Allentown.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 630-7PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the memorial service to follow at 7PM, the Rev John Smaligo officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery in Allentown, PA.
