Janie Ruth Ellis, 74, of Lancaster, PA passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024. She was the wife of Deacon Andrew Ellis; they shared 31 years of marriage. Born in Washington, DC, Janie was the second daughter of the late Frank L. Reeves and Janie B. White Reeves.

Janie spent most of her employment years working in Early Childhood Education which includes IU-13, Community Action Program, Lancaster YWCA, and eventually retiring from Lancaster Day Care Center. She was a member of Bright Side Baptist Church and served on many committees and auxiliaries. She especially enjoyed serving the Youth Department, Kitchen Committee, and attending Saturday SWAG services.

Janie is survived by her sister, Patricia Reeves of Forestville, MD; her daughters Ella L. Gunn (Derwin Faulkner) of Cheltenham, MD; Lillie Reeves Farmer, Tabitha Yvonne Miller, Aicia Christina Alston of Lancaster; and Ebony Ellis of Philadelphia; her son John Wesley Miller of Lancaster, and Andrew Ellis, Jr. of Philadelphia; 30 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her lovingly. Janie was preceded in death by her brother Henri Reeves, her sister Franklin Yvonne Fant, and her daughter Glenda Frazier (Cortez).

Janie's homegoing service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Bright Side Baptist Church, 515 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA, 17603. The family will receive guests beginning at 12 PM. Rev. John A. Knight will officiate the services and Rev. Louis A. Butcher, Jr. will give the eulogy. Interment will follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
