Janet M. Schaefer, 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018. She was the wife of the late Gustav W. Schaefer, who passed away on July 17, 2017. Born in Conestoga, she was the daughter of the late G. Emmanuel and Marguerite C. Warfel Kreider. Janet had worked for 38 years for the Lancaster County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, working as an administrative assistant. She was a member of Millersville Community Church and was a former member of Conestoga UCC Church where she had taught Sunday School for 38 years. Janet was a lifetime member of the Conestoga Historical Society as well as a life member of the United Auxiliaries to the Lancaster General Hospital. She enjoyed knitting and was involved in making pillows for local cancer patients. She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Manning of Lancaster and by her 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Schaefer. Friends will be received by Janet's family on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 9-10AM at the Millersville Community Church UMC- Grace Campus, 163 W. Frederick St., Millersville, 17551, with the Funeral Service to follow at 10AM. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
