James W. "Jim" Smith, 57, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly at Hershey Medical Center on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was the son of the late Charles R. Smith and survived by his mother Pauline Steller Smith and his sister Jennifer L. Smith.

Jim was born and raised in Lancaster. He graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1985. He was an usher at Calvary Church for over 20 years. Jim worked at Thompson (formerly RCA) for 14 years. More recently he became an expert salesman for Samsung appliances, with his last job at the E. Lancaster Lowes in the appliance department.

He enjoyed golfing and fishing with his father and friends. In July Jim experienced his final fishing trip in Kodiak Alaska.

Jim's family will receive quests on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 2:30 to 3:45 pm, followed by a Celebration of his life at 4 pm at Calvary Church with Pastor George May officiating. Private interment will be in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
