James A. Shope, 90, of Lancaster, passed away on June 27, 2024.

Born in Mount Union, he was the husband of Nancy Leisey Shope and was the son of the late Banner and Veda (Gifford) Shope.

James had worked as a scheduling manager for the Alumax Corporation.

He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951 to 1955 on the light cruiser, USS Helena.

He enjoyed traveling, bowling, good food and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his daughter: Gloria married to David Griffith of Huntingdon, PA, his granddaughter Natalie Rhodes, his great grandchildren Blake and McKenzie Rhodes, and his sister, Arlene Jean Speck.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
