James G. Shaeffer, 87, of Lancaster passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. He was the husband of Ann H. (Mentzer) Shaeffer to whom he married June 29, 1963. Born in Lititz he was a son of the late William K. and Grace (Hensel) Shaeffer. James worked for the former Interstate Freight Company as a dock worker and also the former Miller & Hartman Company as a warehouse worker. He enjoyed watching NASCAR especially Jeff Gordon, football and spending time with his family. James was a member of the AMVETS Post 19 in Lancaster. Surviving in addition to his wife Ann, are his four daughters Marilee, wife of Lonnie Shertz of West Willow, PA, Mary, wife of Lynn Eshleman and Tina, wife of Patrick Rhoads both of Lancaster and Cheryl, wife of Robert Wenditz of Conestoga; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and one brother J. Donald Shaeffer husband of Bobbie of Smithville, PA. He was preceded in death by four brothers Roger, Albert, Charles and Lee Shaeffer and a sister Carlotta Conner. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11AM from Riverview Burial Park, S. Duke St. Lancaster, PA with Rev. Mark Thiboldeaux officiating.
