James R. "Jim" Finkbiner, 53, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully at Lancaster General Hospital on Sunday, November 1, 2009. He was born in Phoenixville to Richard K. and Mary Ann (Andrews) Finkbiner of Landisville.
Jim is survived by his wife, Roxanna (McGill) Finkbiner. They celebrated twenty-nine years of marriage.
Jim was a member of the Lancaster Alliance Church for twenty years.
He served his country from 1979-1982 with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Ord, CA and Babenhausen, Germany.
He was a welder and blaster for High Steel for thirty-three years.
His memberships include the AMVETS Post 19, Riverside Club, and the Basal Cell Carcinoma Nevus Syndrome (BCCNS) Organization.
Jim enjoyed bowling at Rocky Springs, golfing, fishing, hunting, and was an avid fan of the Phillies, Eagles, and NASCAR.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a son, Karl Finkbiner, husband of Shelly, of New Providence, PA, a daughter, Jennifer Finkbiner, of Lancaster, brothers Douglas Finkbiner, husband of Diane Eckman, of New Providence, PA, Kenneth Finkbiner, of Lancaster, a grandmother, Elizabeth Finkbiner, of Slate Run, PA, mother-in-law, Mabel M. McGill, of Phoenixville, PA and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service from the Lancaster Alliance Church 210 Pitney Rd. Lancaster, PA 17601 on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 11am with Rev. Carl S. McGarvey officiating. A closed casket visitation with the family will take place from 10-11am at the church. Military Honors will be honored by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. Private Burial will be held at For Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County 685 Good Dr. PO Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604 or BCCNS PO Box 321 Burton, OH 44021.
