Obituary

James J. "Jim" Cox, 74, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Kathleen A. (Borza) Cox with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.

Born in Greensburg, he was a son of the late James G. and Bertha (Ranier) Cox.

A loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he adored his grandchildren whom he considered his pride and joy. He was a faithful member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, serving with the Knights of Columbus and where he and his wife, Kathleen regularly attended Saturday night Mass.

Jim was employed with B & P Motors in Irwin for 15 years. He later worked for Yellow Freight in Lancaster where he would retire after 26 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #771 in Lancaster where he served as the President for two terms. Prior to his presidency he was a trustee for the Local #30 in Jeannette for three years. An avid animal lover, Jim owned 5 Westies throughout his life who he loved like his children.

In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by his children: Mary Kathleen Cox of Islip, NY, James Martin Cox of Columbia, Christina Michelle Collins and husband, Paul of Greenville, SC; brothers: Michael Cox of Greensburg, Patrick Cox and wife Patty of Latrobe; sister, Robin Goodman and husband, Lawrence of Carlisle; five grandchildren: James, Caitlyn, Ashley, Ethan, Chad; great grandson, Warren James; lifelong friend, Parker Martin and his companion and dog, Duffy. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Leigh and two brothers, Robert and Timothy Cox.

There will be a viewing on Friday, December 21 from 7-9pm at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz, Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 22 at 11 am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17601. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
