James A. Hager, 84 years of age died at LGH after an illness. A gentle man devoted to his family- especially his grandchildren.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the foster son of the late George and Theodora Mineur. He was a long time member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, where he was an usher for more than 50 years. He worked at the former Hamilton Watch Co. for 41 years in the machine shop as a tool maker. James served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945 aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Lexington as a gunner's mate 1st class in the Pacific theatre of World War II.

Besides his wife of 63 years the former Teresa Paone, he is survived by three children; Patricia Rhoads (Tim) of E. Petersburg, James A. Hager (Debra) of State College, Pa., S. Joseph Hager (Catherine) of Battle Creek, MI; a beloved brother-in law Sam Paone; a foster sister Gloria Mineur of Harrisburg; two foster brothers George Mineur of Lusby, MD, and Leonard Mineur of New Hope, PA; 5 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by a grand daughter, Sarah Hager. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 13, 2009 at St. Annes's Catholic Church 929 N. Duke St Lancaster, PA 17602 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Norman Hohenwarter as celebrant. Family and friends will be received at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz 17543 before mass from 9-1015 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery.
