James E. Arthur, 78, formally of Tyrone, PA. died Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Village in Manheim.

Born in Altoona, he was the husband of the late Carol A. (Marsh) Arthur, who died May 28, 2013. He was the son of the late George and Ethel (McGinnis) Arthur. James was a retired Vietnam War veteran, having served his country for 20 years in the Air Force.

James loved metal detecting, and was always excited about any find, large or small. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed telling stories and jokes. A Steelers and Pirates fan, James loved his family and his country.

He is survived by 3 sons and their wives: Eric C. and Alexis Arthur of Lancaster, Keith D. and Karri Arthur of Chester, VA, and Phillip J. and Lindsay Arthur of Spartanburg, SC; and 3 grandchildren and one on the way: Kylie, Elijah, and Madison. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Edward, Floyd, George, and Sherman Arthur, and one sister, Dora Edgar.

A Time of Sharing will be held at 6:30 PM Friday, March 6, 2015 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz. Friends will be received at the funeral home prior to the service, from 5 to 6:30 PM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
