Jacob Warren Sentz, 90, of Manheim, PA peacefully passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 with his family by his side at Pleasant View Retirement Community. He was the loving husband of Irene Maurer Bradley Sentz, to whom he was married for 66 years. Jake was born on August 9, 1924 to the late Elmer and Mae Risser Sentz.
Born in Mt. Joy, PA, he worked as a Warehouse Supervisor for Graybill's Dairy and later at Sauder Eggs. Jacob was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Church in Lititz, PA and he was involved with the Boy Scouts of America. After retirement, he enjoyed helping his grandson with his business, Mike's Landscaping and Lawn Care.
Jacob was hardworking, gentle, kind, charismatic, always smiling and known for his good-hearted, witty humor. He loved to work and took pleasure in talking with anyone. He also enjoyed cross word puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Irene, Jake is survived by his two children: Nancy Rettew wife of Carl Rettew and Jacob Owen Sentz, husband of Edwadeen; four grandchildren: Michael Rettew husband of Dawn Rettew, Tammy Rettew Carles wife of Jeremy Carles, Kaitlyn Sentz and Emily Sentz; and four great-grandchildren: Madelyn and Roy Rettew and Liam and Owen Carles. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Koser and Ruth Haines, and one brother Paul Sentz.
Relatives and friend are invited to attend Jacob's Celebration of Life on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. located at the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545. Chaplain Ginny Hartman will be officiating. Interment will take place at 1:00 P.M. at Conestoga Memorial Park following a luncheon. The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Hoffer Auditorium.
