IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacob H.
Fehl Jr.
October 14, 2024
Jacob "Jake" Herbert Fehl, Jr. 86, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024 with his family by his side.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of J. Herbert, Sr. and Charlotte Zeamer Fehl. A third generation of family members in the insurance industry, Jake worked at several international insurance companies where his work took him to Puerto Rico, Bermuda and Miami. He retired in 1992 and returned to Lancaster County. However not content to sit still, he returned to work in various positions including assisting in the kitchen of the first Lancaster Olive Garden, delivering packages as a holiday helper for UPS, making mousetraps at Woodstream Corporation, and then working ten years for Alumax until his final retirement.
In his free time, he enjoyed tending to his flower beds, restoring and reconditioning homes, collecting stamps and frogs, and making wine. Jake was generous with his time and was known for always helping friends and family with projects. He spent many years working with his son, Ben, on The Crooked House, a historical home project in Milesburg, PA.
Jake was a US Army veteran, serving in Munich Germany for three years in the Finance Corps, where he enjoyed multiple Oktoberfests and traveling throughout Europe in a 1952 VW Beetle. He was also a member of Masonic Columbia Lodge 286 F&AM.
He is survived by his three sons: Douglas and wife Patrice of Camp Hill, Thomas and wife Sheryl of Charleston, SC, and Benjamin and partner Jenny of Milesburg; his six grandchildren: Caroline, Paige, Ryan, Samantha, Michael, and Megan, and a great-grandchild, McKenzie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Frederick Fehl.
Family and friends will be greeted by Jake's family on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 10-11AM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA with the Memorial Service to follow at 11AM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his memory to Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 ( masonicvillages.org ), or to The Crooked House, Box 682, Milesburg, PA 16853 ( thecrookedhouse.net ).
