Jack Owen Fulmer, 80, of Lancaster, formerly of Norristown, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2007 at his residence. Born in Phoenixville, Jack was the son of the late Joseph M. and Alma Carr Fulmer. He was married to Audrey P. Kindig Fulmer. They would have celebrated their 57 th anniversary in October.
Jack worked in the Pennsylvania Railroad System for Conrail for 38 years. He was employed as a payroll clerk in the offices of the 30 th Street Station in Philadelphia.
Jack served in the US Navy as Seaman 2 nd Class during World War II. Stationed in Fort Lauderdale, FL, he taught radar to seamen at his base.
Jack attended Grace Community Church of Willow Street.
Jack served for 6 years as president and 2 years as treasurer of Pheasant Ridge Home Owners Assoc. He volunteered his time as a Docent, dressed in period clothing, at the Amos Herr Family Homestead for several years. For the past thirteen years, Jack volunteered at Manor Middle School as a mentor for seventh grade students for SAGA (Support, Assist, and Give Attention.) Jack loved to work in his garden, and was an accomplished craftsman known for making miniature doll houses. He loved spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by a son, Gregg A. Fulmer of Ephrata, and a daughter, Cheryl L. Arena and son-in-law, Frank J. Malfi of North Wales, PA; 2 grandchildren, Stephen and Rebecca; and great granddaughter, Angela. Jack was preceded in death by his twin brother, Gene, and brother Mahlon.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11 AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA, the Rev. Wilmer R. Martin officiating. There will be a Calling Time from 10 until 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment Service will take place at 1:30 PM at Limerick Gardens Cemetery, Limerick, PA. Flowers will be received, or contributions in Jack's memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
