J. Arlene Cardwell, 81, of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Lucy (Epply) Rice.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Jonathan F. Cardwell in 1974.

She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Willow Street.

Arlene worked in the administrative departments as a clerk for Lancaster General Hospital and later the Mayo Clinic in Arizona after her husband passed away. She moved back to Lancaster in 1988 to retire. She also assisted the Visiting Angels.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and puzzles.

Arlene is survived by four children; two sons, Glenn D. Hall, husband of Patricia, of Mount Joy, Mark W. Cardwell, of New Providence, two daughters, Jolene Cardwell, of Elizabethtown, Kathleen Cardwell, of Manheim, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Private Services and Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
