Irene C. Metzger, a woman whose humor, quiet strength, and love touched the hearts of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023. She was born on January 13, 1934, making her 89 years old at the time of her passing.

Irene had a passion for the simple joys in life. She adored cooking shows, with "The Pioneer Woman" being a particular favorite. Irene also enjoyed game shows, delighting in the excitement they brought. She had a love for snacks, especially Tootsie Pops. Irene could often be found with a puzzle book in one hand and a Tootsie Pop in the other. Above all, Irene's greatest joy came from her family. She was a pillar of love and stability. Irene's grandson, Don, had the privilege of learning how to drive under her guidance.

Left to treasure Irene's memory is her children Lynn Diehl wife of David and Michael Metzger; her grandson Don Diem, Matt Metzger, and Amanda Metzger; her great grandchildren Noelle and Alicia; her brother Tom Cunrod husband of Judith; and her best friend and sister in-law Janet Wood. Irene is preceded in her passing by her parents; Leslie Cunrod and Blanche Dunkin; and her brother Kenneth Wood.

A memorial service to celebrate Irene's life will be held on Thursday October 19, 2023, at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street PA.
