Ira Santford Ferris, III, 80, of Lancaster, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2013 at his home. Born in Asbury Park, NJ, he was the son of the late Dorothy Evelyn (Beck) and Ira S. Ferris, Jr. Ira was the husband of 55 years to Susan (Urich) Ferris.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served in the Presidential Honor Guard.

Ira was a retired accountant from Chester County. He was an active member of Westgate Baptist Church. Ira, and his wife, sang in the choir and he was also a moderator and served as the church's treasurer for many years.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Susan, are Ira's children: Annette Kidd, wife of Kenneth, of Waynesboro, VA, Ira S. Ferris IV, husband of Mary, of Pequea, PA, John S. Ferris of Lancaster, PA and Timothy S. Ferris, husband of Cynthia, of Lancaster, PA; four grandchildren: Dustin Hart, husband of Chellie, Elizabeth Kidd, Madison Kidd and Ty Z. Ferris; and a great-grandson, Evan Hart.

A Memorial Service will be at 11 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Westgate Baptist Church, 2235 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. Family and friends will be received from 10-11 AM at the church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
