I. Robert "Doc" Horst, Jr., 63, of Akron, PA, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from malignant Mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure. He was the husband of Diane M. Schoenberger, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage this past November 3rd. Born in Ephrata Twp., he was the son of Marian E. Hershey Horst of Olympia, WA and the late Ivan R. Horst. Bob had worked for BJ Baldwin Electric in Narvon for 36 years, starting as an electrician and retiring as the head estimator. He was a hard working guy, enjoyed playing golf, and had the ability to fix or rebuild anything. He had an easy going spirit and was well-loved. He would never turn away from anyone who needed help. In addition to his wife and mother, Bob is survived by his stepson: Michael L. Ruth of Batavia, NY; his grandchildren Brooke Ruth and Brittany Ruth and his great grandchildren Trey Bowers, Mayson Wenger, and Jaxton Whitmyer. He is also survived by his siblings: Kenneth Horst of Goshen, IN, Kate Freisen and Susan Horst, both of Olympia, WA and Sherl Abetz of Tacoma, WA. A memorial service will be held at a later date, with time and location to be published.
