Howard I. Taggart, 81, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday August 22, 2021 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Harry E. and Mary E. (Smith) Taggart. He was the devoted and loving husband of the late Janice L. Williams with whom he shared 52 years until her passing on May 12, 2021.

A proud veteran, Howard honorably served his country in the United States Army. Howard worked for Flexsteel Industries, Inc. in Lancaster as an upholsterer for 26 years until his retirement.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, attending casinos, spending time with family, and reading books. In many ways, Howard was a self-educated man with an incomparable work ethic that he graciously passed on to his children. Though he was a man of few words, his voice and presence will be greatly missed by all.

To cherish his memory, Howard leaves six children: Barb Kautz, Bonnie Williams, Lisa Felder wife of Lawrence, Howard Williams, Eric Taggart husband of Anita, and Allen Taggart husband of Lidabel; one sister: Laura Gray; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by several siblings.

Funeral Services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street Lancaster, PA 17602 on Monday August 30, 2021 at 12pm. Family and friends will be received for a viewing from 11am to 12pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
