IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Howard Archibald
Long
January 27, 1921 – July 24, 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Howard A. Long
Howard Archibald Long, 100, of Lancaster, went into the arms of his Lord and Savior on July 24, 2021, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Born January 27, 1921, in Kingston, Jamaica, he was the son of the late Claudius and Miriam Long. He was the loving husband of Patricia Long until her passing in 2003.
Howard was very dedicated to his family and his faith. He was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, of Lancaster Ward. He served in United States Army during WWII. He enjoyed repairing watches, which was a trade he developed in Jamaica and continued when he moved to the United States. He will be remembered as a prolific reader, oftentimes found with his nose in medical and how-to books. In his leisure, he tended to his garden. His children remember his fondness of tending mint, vegetables, and grapes. He treasured his Jamaican heritage and visited friends and family there for a few months every year.
His love will live on in his children: Peter Long and Andrew Long, husband of Annette, all of Ohio, Michael Long of Boston, MA, Henrietta Bell, companion of Caroll, of Naples, FL, Theron Long, husband of Michelle, of Jamaica, Fabian Ballantine, husband of Nicole, of Lancaster, Priscilla Lopez, wife of Justin, of Lancaster and Wayne Long, long time companion of Madelyn of Lancaster, a brother: Ray Long of New York, as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his loving wife Patricia Long, and daughter Judy Long.
Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing from 5PM-7PM on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St. Millersville, PA.
Interment will take place in Kingston, Jamaica at the family's convenience
