Howard E. Burkhart, 79, of Lancaster passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Walter K. and Anna Belle (Hughes) Burkhart. He was the loving husband of Doris Burkhart with whom he shared 47 years of marriage. He was a hard worker and spent most of his life working in an iron foundry. Howard was a member of the 8th Ward club and the CTA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He proudly served in the US Army. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepdaughter, Sherri Hevener wife of Thomas of Lititz, two grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Janet Burkhart of Mt. Joy, Carol Asplin wife of Thomas of Lancaster and a brother, Charles Burkhart husband of Karen of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rose and his brother, Walter. A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St, Lancaster, PA 17602. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Interment will be private.
