Through many tears and great sadness, the family of Hilda V. Oyola announce her passing on December 4, 2024, at her home. She was 86. Her legacy began on January 9, 1938, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, where she was born to Emeterio Solivan and Concepcion Rodriguez.

She was a woman of her faith and her family. She was a long-time member of the Good Shepherd Mennonite Church in Lancaster. Her family fondly remembers her love of cooking, dancing and gardening. She enjoyed collecting bells and loved elephants. Hilda was a thrill seeker at heart and lived life to its fullest. It wouldn't surprise her family to see her on a roller coaster or a water slide, on family vacations.

Her love and memories will live on in all who knew her especially her children, Hilda R., wife of Miguel Guadarrama of Lancaster, Luis Elibe Oyola, husband of Kim of Pine Grove, Carmen Rivera of Tampa, FL, and Rosa Baker-Van Pelt, husband of Everett Van Pelt of Lancaster, grandchildren, Larisa Rivera, Miya Baker, Luis Baker, Daniel Oyola, George Rivera, Joshua Rivera, Jeremia Rivera, Jonah Rivera, and Lindsey Lage, 14 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Miguel Solivan of Puerto Rico, and Maria Diaz of Connecticut. She was preceded in passing by her husband of 68 years, Luis E. Oyola, and a grandson, William L. Oyola.

A funeral service honoring Hilda's life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602, at 2 PM. The family will greet guests from 1 PM until the time of service. All are encouraged to dress in purple to honor Hilda's favorite color. Interment to follow at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Hilda's memory to the Moravian Center, lancastermoravian.org/about/moravian-center
