Herbert D.
Frey, Jr.
April 27, 2017
Herbert D. Frey, Jr., 91, passed away surrounded by his loving family in his Manheim Twp. home on Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was born in Lancaster to the late Herbert D. Frey Sr. and Luella K. (Adams). This August, Herb and his wife Shirley would have celebrated 49 years of marriage.
He served in the Army Air Force as a Sergeant during WWII with the 736 Air Force Base Unit. A proud veteran, Herb loved his country.
Herb worked for Wohlsen Construction Company for 45 years, from 1949 to 1994, beginning as a carpenter and working his way up to General Superintendent. He was a dedicated employee and oversaw the construction of many landmarks in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Herb was also very dedicated to his large family. He loved spending time with his six children, ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He found great joy building and creating things for and with his family including a grandfather clock, wall clocks, and many dollhouses.

In addition to his wife Shirley, Herb is survived by six children: Linda A. Fetter, Robin F., wife of David Midgley, Cindy, wife of George Harmes, Craig S. Beittel, husband of Kamille, W. Richard Beittel and fiancé Michele Lucas, and Jennifer F., wife of John Cochran; ten grandchildren: Anthony Fetter, husband of Laura, James Fetter, husband of Heather, David Midgley, husband of Amber, Brian Shuffelbottom, Taryn Shuffelbottom, Jason Harmes, husband of Emily, Corbin Beittel, Kendra Beittel, Julia Cochran and Jack Cochran; and four great-grandchildren: Andrew Fetter, husband of Alexa L., Alexa T. A viewing will take place from 9 to 10 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.O.
