Henry S. Weber, Jr., 93, of Lititz went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, evening May 3, 2014. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances Mae in 2010; they had been married for 57 years.
Henry, born on December 12, 1920, in Lancaster County, was the son of the late Henry S. and Mary B. Weber. Henry spent most of his life in Lancaster County as a husband and father, businessman, and philanthropist.
Henry was a pilot who logged 23,500 hours and more than 4.1 million miles in the cockpit before retiring from flying at age 83. During the course of his life, Henry also designed and built homes before turning his passion for flying and aircraft into a successful full-time career as founder of Henry Weber Aircraft Distributors, Inc. In this role he received numerous awards and accolades, and his reputation in the general aviation industry is widespread even today.
In addition to flying, Henry's interests included antique cars and trucks and playing Scrabble with friends and family.
As a successful Christian businessman, he was dedicated to giving back what the Lord had given him. Recipients of his stewardship included Grace College in Winona Lake, IN, where he served for many years on the Board of Trustees; Lancaster Bible College, where he served on the Corporate Board and Building Committee; Teen Challenge; Lititz Christian School; Grace Church in Lititz, PA, where he was a long-time member and served sixteen years on the Board of Elders; and the Association for Biblical Higher Education in Orlando, Florida.
He is survived by his children: Sylvia Gerz, wife of Stephen, Chris Weber, husband of Melanie, Joseph Weber, husband of Johanna, Anita Curry, and Francis Eileen Clare, wife of Dorn. In addition, he has two sons, Henry Weber III and Dennis Weber, from a previous marriage.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
A viewing will be held at Lititz Grace Church, 501 W. Lincoln Ave, Lititz, PA on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 1:30-3:30PM with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:30PM. Private Interment will be at Long Memorial Church Cemetery, Neffsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Henry's memory may be made to Lititz Christian School, 501 W. Lincoln Ave, Lititz, PA 17543.
