“Bud” Weidman

Henry J. "Bud" Weidman, 94, of Lancaster PA passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. He was born in Silver Springs, PA to the late Harlan J. and Susan (Birk) Weidman. He was the loving husband to the late Ruth Naomi Frey for 48 years. Bud was a US Army Veteran who served until his honorable discharge in 1955. While serving he was deployed to the South Pacific, Guadalcanal and the Philippines, where he survived 3 days in a fox hole during Japanese occupation. He also guarded the Sipan and Guam. Bud was a master plumber and employed by several companies. He retired from EH Gochnauer & Sons, Inc in 1988. After his retirement he was employed by John Herr's until 2011.
Bud was a member of Grace Community Church in Willow Street. He was a passionate Phillies and Eagles fan. He enjoyed teasing local staff at his favorite dining establishments. Bud was an avid reader of his bible, historical novels and mysteries. He also enjoyed doing puzzles and word searches. Most of all, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events.
Bud is survived by his children: Dolores "Cook" Weidman of Lancaster, Nancy Jenkins (John) of Washington Boro, Denise Weidman of Lancaster and Dale (Barbara) of Brunswick, OH; his 5 Grandchildren: John "Christopher", Chad W., Angela J., Brooke A. and Jason E.; and his 9 Great-grandchildren: Kira, Madalyn, Jacob, Gavin, Grace, Ty, Lucas, Liam and Francesca, his brother: Donald "Sam" Weidman and sister, Doris Shyver. In addition to his first wife, he is preceded in death by his second wife, June Pauline Biechler; his 5 brothers: Arthur, Kenneth, Nelson, Harlan "Birk" and Arthur J.; and 3 sisters: Christine Weidman, Amelia Wolpert, Betty Scheuchenzuber.
A viewing will take place from 6PM to 8PM on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 N. George Street, Millersville, PA 17551. A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Grace Community Church of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Rd. Willow Street, PA 17584. Friends and Family will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 2nd Lock Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Community Building Fund 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, PA 17584.
