Henry Leo Blust, 91, formerly of Landisville, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster, PA. He was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Edward and Helen Piske Blust. Henry was the loving husband of Sylvia Agnes Stark Blust for 65 years.
During WWII Henry served as a TEC 5 in US Army with Company B Tank Destroyer Battalion. He graduated from Tulane University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and worked for RCA /GE from 1950 to 1986. Henry was awarded 13 patents during his career. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi Honor Society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Professional Engineers (PE).
Henry enjoyed doing automobile maintenance, woodworking and home improvement projects, playing Scrabble and Words with Friends, and family vacation trips. Together with his wife Henry delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years. Henry was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church since 1978 and served as a Eucharistic Minister for over 25 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife Sylvia are their four children: Barry Edward Blust (Audrey) of Glenmoore, PA, Michael Henry Blust (Evangelina) of Poultney, VT, Eileen Marie Bozarth (Shawn) of Landisville, PA and Paul John Blust (Michele) of Jamesville, NY; five grandchildren: Katelyn Rebecca Segnere, Laura Emily Gathercole, Christine Marie Sedelnick, Christopher Henry Blust and Evan Anthony Blust; three great-grandchildren: Timothy Mason Gathercole, Juliette Claire Segnere and Olivia Marie Segnere; and two sisters: Evelyn Blust Baker and Marilyn Blust Keller (Howard). His brother Milton Edward Blust preceded Henry in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with The Rev. Peter I. Hahn as Celebrant. The viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday at the church. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery will be private. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17601.
