Helen N. Bermel, 84, formerly of 401 Eden Rd., Lancaster, died at the United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz on Thursday evening.

Helen was the wife of the late August M. Bermel, who died in 1966. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Sr. and Minnie E. Felker Bowman.

Helen had worked as a customer account representative for Farmers First Bank for 15 years, until her retirement in 1986.

She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, the St. Anne Neumann Senior Club, and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 867 Ladies Auxiliary.

Helen is survived by a son: A. Michael, Jr., married to Mary Jo Bermel of Lancaster; 2 daughters: Susan P. Bermel of Bellevue, WA and Barbara E. Bermel, married to Thomas Beyer of Appleton, WI; and by 2 grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Jane married to Harry Hartenstine of Kilgore, TX. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and G. Nevin Bowman.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10-11AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the memorial service to follow at 11AM, Msgr Richard Youtz officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
