Hector “Tortey” Tirado, 71, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. Born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Miguel Tirado and Ana Vazquez.

Tortey worked in the foundry at Grinnell LLC for 40 years, retiring in 2018. He was passionate about riding motorcycles and was a member of the LAMA Motorcycle Club. Hector enjoyed playing dominos and billiards, cooking for his family, and listening to Spanish music. He was very involved in his church, New Creation UMC, and he helped run the food bank. Most of all, Hector cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Hector is survived by 2 daughters: Misty Sanchez (Gilberto) and Michelle Alston (Arick); 3 grandchildren: Richie Rosas, Isabel Alston, and Leana Rodriguez; 8 siblings: Miguel, Enrique, Gerardo, Heriberto, Victor, Nelly, Daisy, and Bruni; and his former spouse and friend, Diane Bonigut.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at New Creation UMC, 10 W. Farnum St, Lancaster, PA 17603. The family will receive guests beginning at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Hector’s name to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, 2102 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
