Obituary

Harry E. Tyson, Jr., 74, of Columbia, passed away at his home on July 21, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Lancaster, on March 31, 1950, to Harry E. Sr. and Betty Tyson.

Shortly after graduating high school, Harry joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He will also be remembered for his dedication to the Harley Davidson plant in York, where he worked for over 30 years as a paint specialist. Harry was a jokester, loved listening to Pink Floyd and his collection of oldies, hitting the open road on his motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren.

Harry is survived by his sons, Frank Tyson, husband of Tia of Wrightsville, and Larry Tyson, companion of Erin Clark of Columbia; grandchildren, Lincoln Tyson, Aryanna Tyson, Destiny Tyson, Damien Tyson, and Alex Tyson; sisters, Beverly Spittler and Reba Gonzalez, as well as his close friend, Craig Flinchbaugh.

A committal service honoring Harry and his service time will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project .
