Gordon H. Bitts, 86, of Lancaster went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Raemon M. and Edith M. Hildebrand Bitts. Gordon was married to Ivon Rigdon Bitts for 62 years. He was a mechanic for Davis & Son for 18 years and retired in 1984.

He served his country in the U. S. Army in Southern France, Rhineland,Germany and Central Europe. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service  Medal, European, Africa Middle East Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the VFW and DAV and attended the Worship Center.

Surviving besides his wife is a daughter, June wife of Michael Noecker, Lancaster, two grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son; Gerald Scott Bitts, a grandson, J. Scott Bitts, and a sister, June B. Bell.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made in Gordon's memory to Lancaster Generations Adult Day Care Center 2423 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. Arrangements are by the Charles F.
