IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria Jean
Gerlitzki Rodman
November 8, 2023
Gloria Jean Gerlitzki Rodman, devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at home with her husband by her side, after a four year battle with a rare malignant mixed Mullerian uterine cancer.
Born on April 4, 1949, in Long Beach, CA, she was the oldest daughter of the late Karl and Bertha Bryson Gerlitzki. Gloria lived in Lancaster all her life, graduated from McCaskey High School in 1967 and graduated from Millersville University in 1971 with a degree in Elementary Education. She later earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education, also from Millersville. She began her teaching career at Warwick School District. She retired after 36 years of exceptional teaching and leadership, having spent her last 25 years in 2nd grade at John Beck Elementary School. She was a strong supporter of Warwick Education Association, having served most of her tenure as secretary.
In 1972, she married Reed Rodman and their 51 year relationship was very special, filled with love, common interests, mutual respect and their strong commitment to one another. Gloria is survived by two daughters, Kristin (Michael Schwarz) of Lafayette Hill, PA and Jennifer (Nathan Campbell) of Manheim, PA. Lovingly known as Oma, she loved her four grandchildren, Ryan and Audrey Schwarz and Lucas and Nora Campbell. Her daughters and grandchildren were the greatest joys in her life. She took every opportunity possible to attend their events and extend her helping hand.
Gloria loved to travel to Europe, the beach, the Caribbean, and to take cruises. She learned golf and became a very good bocce player in her retirement years. She was a long time member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Neffsville.
Gloria's natural warmth and good nature drew people to her, resulting in countless lifelong friendships. She was a good listener and was open and accepting of all. She will be fondly remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Rd. in Lancaster. Family and friends will be received from 10:30 AM until the time of service. There will be a private interment.
Contributions in Gloria's name may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute. We are thankful for the loving care she received there over the past 4 years.
