Glen Eugene "Gene" Murrow, 85, passed into eternal life on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Country Meadows Leader Heights. Born March 21, 1932, in Hopewell Township, Gene was a son of Laura Virginia Quesenberry and Homer Glen "Jack" Murrow. He graduated in 1950 from Red Lion Area High School. Glen served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic, stationed in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, during the Korean War. On September 15, 1956, he married Madelyn June Henry of Red Lion, PA. Together they raised a family of five children: Kathy, Brian, Alan, Suzi, and Lucy. Gene continued farming while he worked for Goodling Inc. later becoming Shipley from where he retired. After retiring, Gene and Mattie built a cabin named Chief's Place in Potter County, where they enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter, attending the Fourth of July fireworks in the summer, and spending lots of quality time with family and friends. Gene was a faithful member of Chapel Church in Red Lion serving in many positions over the years. He was a member of several snowmobile clubs and enjoyed snowmobiling, farming, tractor pulls, antique tractors, and hunting. Gene is survived by his wife Mattie Murrow of Country Meadows Leader Heights, their children Kathy Emenheiser and husband Lee of Red Lion, Alan Murrow of South Prairie, WA, Suzi Krout and husband Todd of Red Lion, Lucy Germick and husband Brian of Leland, NC,and his sister Joan Royer of Red Lion. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Brian Murrow and his sisters Jacklyn Norris and Joyce Iseman. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services which will be held at 11 am on Thursday November 9, 2017 at Chapel Church, 3050 Cape Horn Rd, Red Lion, with Pastor Brendan Hoch officiating. A visitation will begin at 10 am at the church. Burial will follow at the Heiland View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gene's memory may be offered to Chapel Church Building Fund at the above address.
