Obituary

Glen Diehm, age 87 of Lititz, entered into rest on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born May 3, 1937, in Elm, PA, he was the son of the late Emma A. & Paul F. Diehm.

Glen loved helping out on the family farm in Elm, where he learned the value of hard work, helping others, sharing God's blessings and enjoying life to its fullest. The Diehm Family settled in Lititz, where Glen & his siblings grew up. He loved playing sports, especially football and tennis. He graduated from Lititz High School in 1955. Afterwards, he went on to earn a degree in mechanics from Williamsport Technical Institute in 1957.

With his ready smile, engaging personality, vast knowledge and ability to teach, Glen was a natural salesman. Over his lifetime, he sold various products from potato chips & newspapers to homes & tools to hydraulic lifts! Glen could readily sell his ideas too! Much of his long career in mechanics and sales was spent at Snap-On Tools where he advanced to increasingly senior positions. He was a highly successful salesman who thoroughly enjoyed leading teams.

A dedicated husband and family man, Glen was an excellent provider for his large family. He married his high school sweetheart, Yvonne Worley, and together they raised five children, largely in upstate New York. Glen involved the family in all of his passions: CARS, woodworking, sports, hunting, camping, snowmobiling & building things (including a hunting cabin). Glen seemed to know how to fix anything. The children learned many practical skills from him with his values embedded in every task – lean in, work hard, help others & stick with the job until it is done and done well! "Get 'er Done!"

Glen delighted in time spent with his grandchildren, mentoring them in the same ways. What an outstanding role model he provided.

In his retirement years, Glen enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife, Sandy, at their home in Florida.

Glen is survived by his wife of seven years, Sandra Smith, and his five children: Lynn Gurliacci (John) of Sparrowbush, NY; Beth Fenton (Jim) of Ephrata, PA; Glen Diehm, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Lititz, PA; James Diehm of Manheim, PA; and Mark Diehm of The Villages, FL. Additionally, his stepchildren: Scott Smith (Kris) of Blandon, PA; Tim Smith (Stacey) of Dallas, TX; and Shelby Witmer (Eric) of Lancaster, PA. Also surviving are his beloved 12 grandchildren & 13 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren, and his brother, Paul R. Diehm of Lititz. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Yvonne Diehm; his sister, Pauline Shelly; his brother Dale F. Diehm; and his daughter-in-law, Joan Diehm.

A Celebration of Life service for Glen will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 1:30 pm at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3009 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Guests may greet the family following the service. Interment will be private.
