Glen W. Barnes, 72, of Lancaster and formerly of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013 after a brave and courageous fight with cancer.
Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of Miriam (Scheirer) Barnes of Lancaster, and the son of the late Samuel H. and Ethel E. (Ruhl) Barnes.
He retired from C.D. Schneck Inc. where he delivered diesel fuel and gasoline. He also worked at the former Raymark Industries, Manheim for 17 years. After retirement he worked part time for Bernville Quality Fuels in Reading, PA.
Glen was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1960 to 1966.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ephrata; Manheim Sportsmen Assn., and an active member of the Gravely Tractor Club of America. He enjoyed restoring Gravely tractors and also showing them at various shows.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 32 years are a stepson, Brian Hess and his wife Teresa (Strohl) of Manheim; a stepdaughter, Jennifer (Hess) Miller and her husband Harry R. of Marlinton, WV; and three step-grandchildren: Eric and Amber Horn and Clara Shay.
Friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at 11 AM Friday, October 18, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, 68 N. Church St., Ephrata, PA 17522 with Pastor Walter Carter officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
