It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Ghulam Sakhi Majid, 89, of Lancaster, PA and Riverdale, NY. He was our inspiration and guiding light. He passed away peacefully on 10/24/23 at Lancaster General Hospital, with family by his side. He was a beloved father of 9, grandfather of 18, great-grandfather of three, and husband of Bebe Haji Rahima.

He was born and raised in Kabul, Afghanistan. In the 1950's he worked in Afghanistan for the International Cooperation Administration (ICA), a precursor to the present day US Agency for International Development. In 1969 the ICA sponsored Ghulam to come to the United States to study at Columbia University in New York City to obtain a certificate to teach engineering.

He returned to Afghanistan during the 1970's to teach. In retirement he enjoyed traveling, reading The New York Times and National Geographic, and spending time with family. He liked to follow political developments around the world and keep up to date on current events.

He spent the majority of his time in recent years with his daughter, Sema. They would spend time together reminiscing about family memories and worldly travels. We will all treasure the time we spent with him. He will always be in our hearts and we will cherish the fondest memories of him forever. In the past year he especially loved playing with his youngest great-grandson and dedicating time with his grandchildren and extended family.

The family is welcoming guests to a visitation on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, from 10 AM until a prayer service at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Manheim Fairview Cemetery, 98 W. Sun Hill Rd. Manheim, PA 17545.
