Gerald "Jere" High, Jr., of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Conestoga, PA passed away into God's loving hands on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Waiting for him was his son, Jason, who passed away in 1987. Jere just celebrated his 61st birthday on September 26th. He is survived by his soulmate and wife, Theresa Yeaglin High. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Blanche Shultz High of Willow Street and the late Gerald High Sr. Jere was a graduate of Lampeter Strasburg High School. He had worked for PPL for 40 years until his retirement in 2012, and he then remodeled their dream house in Delaware. Jere received his Captains boating license in 2009 and chartered his fishing boat "Highlander II" in the Atlantic Ocean. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Jere loved to travel, was a collector of hand carved ducks, and was a member of the Charles M. Howell Masonic Lodge 496 in Millersville, the American Legion Post 28 and the AmVets, both in Millsboro. He especially loved to entertain, loved to make the overnight guests' breakfast and was always willing to share his knowledge , especially of catching and cleaning crabs with his many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and his mother, Jere is survived by a brother, Chris of Holtwood; two sisters, Robin wife of Ted Gutierrez and their son Tyler of Chino Hills, CA and Jen wife of Monte Cox of Westminster, CA. Uncle Jere will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, and his many brothers and sisters-in-law and, of course, all the outlaws. Friends will be received on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St., Columbia from 10-11AM, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11AM, Rev. Kenneth Lawrence as Celebrant. Interment in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Jere's memory to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1054 New Holland Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601.
