Gerald J. Dochterman, 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Penn State Health Lancaster. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Harry S. and Esther M. (Henry) Dochterman. Gerald was the loving husband of the late Dawn M. (Krodel) Dochterman, and they shared 47 years of marriage at the time of her passing in June 2016.

Gerald attended J P McCaskey High School and graduated from Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, VA. He honorably served his country as a member of the US Army. Over the years he worked for various local companies, including Fruehauf Trailer Corp. and Armstrong World Industries, and retired from The Hersey Chocolate Company. In earlier years, Gerald served in active leadership roles with Boy Scouts of America and as Scout Master of Troop 51 in Elizabethtown. He enjoyed woodworking and especially loved fly fishing with his son, Dean.

Gerald is survived by his son, Dean M. Dochterman and his wife Penny of Elizabethtown; stepdaughters Cynthia L. Ross and her husband Kenneth of Milton, PA, and Dawn Keane and her husband Kevin of Perryville, MD; a stepson, Anthony W. Russ and his wife Debra of Harrisburg, PA; 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Deborah.

Services will be private. Inurnment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
